Interview of Hermengilles_334 on TribesAttack's IRC

 

Hi everyone, here is the Hermengilles_334 interview from the Stargate SG1 mod,
it has been made 5 march on our IRC channel.

@Qdead> This interview is simply intended to give a progress report on the development of MOD SG1

@Qdead> What is the status of the progress? Are you ready to begin coding on Tribes 2?
<+Hermengilles_334> right now, the mod is going very good. For example, we have all the weapons for the Beta 1, all skinned                              and modelled (except some for the Goa'ulds)
<+Hermengilles_334> And, the Jaffa's model will be skinned very soon and so for the 2 vehicles models

@CeNTuRY> Do you had some help from Dynamix ?
<+Hermengilles_334> No unfortunately

@CeNTuRY> Do you work at this time ? or like other mods teams, you await Tribes 2 release?
<+Hermengilles_334> I've contacted Dave and he told me that he could'nt help us like they help SF:T2, because SG1 got                              copyrights and they don't want to get in troubles with Stargate producer.

@Qdead> Have you planned new objectives for the team ?
<+Hermengilles_334> Not at this moment, we want to see how Tribes 2 looks, before changing anything

@Qdead> about the vehicles, do u think that realism and special effects will be there , or do u plan to make a                              gameplay more "Arcade" oriented ?
<+Hermengilles_334> It depends, for Humans's vehicles, physics will be here but for Goa'ulds ones it wont be the same thing.

        <@DarkVador> what's the point with the Larvae's system ?
<+Hermengilles_334> it remains to be seen how coding this idea (which will be in the form of grenades) with Tribes 2 engine
<+Hermengilles_334> the hardest thing is already done, for the models and the ideas, but we mustn't forget that coding still                              the bigger part

@CeNTuRY> can we imagine them as respawn points on the map or like a way to another level

<+Hermengilles_334> exactly, example : a map will have 2 maps in her
<+Hermengilles_334> humans must destroy a Goa'uld temple (this is only an example :) et the Goa'ulds would have to                              destroy something on Earth

@CeNTuRY> humm 2 maps that will communicate by 2 gates ?
<+Hermengilles_334> like Assault in UT, but with 2 different worlds

<+Hermengilles_334> it wont be 2 different maps, but 1 map that will contain 2 parts only accessible by a gate

@CeNTuRY> more like a Q3 respawn but to a completely different background in the same map ?

@CeNTuRY> that's very interesting
        <@DarkVador> so we wont have maps that will communicate by gates ?

@CeNTuRY> no 2 backgrounds on one map

@CeNTuRY> they will have some objectives to do in their own background before trying go through the gate and to                              continue in the other world ?

         <@DarkVador> but i was loving the idea of a map link by 2 gates

@CeNTuRY> not very easy for mappers
<+Hermengilles_334> i don't know how to put 2 maps on one ??:)

@CeNTuRY> you don't have to put 2 maps, just make a link that will load the next
<+Hermengilles_334> if we can do this, it will be done

@Qdead> You must see the 3D engine possibility !
<+Hermengilles_334> that's it, i don't think it will be possible

@CeNTuRY> will there be an hostage or someone to save in the other world ?
<+Hermengilles_334> we have nothing planned yet for this kind of screenplay
<+Hermengilles_334> it would be something to destroy or to steal

<+Hermengilles_334> steal new technologies or something like that ?

@CeNTuRY> they will win points when they'll get them or when they'll bring them back ?

<+Hermengilles_334> when they'll bring them back, like in CTF

@CeNTuRY> and points will count when they destroy the objective ?

@CeNTuRY> i suppose that the game will end when the time will stop or by points ?
<+Hermengilles_334> and you speak about a little interview ? ...:)

@CeNTuRY> will there be deathmatch ?

@CeNTuRY> as you are there, we can do something great
<+Hermengilles_334> for "Assault", there will a time limit to accomplish the mission

@CeNTuRY> and for the map cycle, will it by time or by objective ?

@CeNTuRY> i suppose it will depends of the gameplay

@Qdead> to conclude, do you think you've done the bigger in development ? and do you think you'll make a public                              beta ?
<+Hermengilles_334> the bigger, without coding, yes

@Qdead> and for the Beta ?
<+Hermengilles_334> public Beta, yes, we will choose almost 30 persons, not more
<+Hermengilles_334> 50 max
